Grants and Funding Opportunities for Small Businesses

June 20, 2024 2 minute read

Downtown Miami is a center of entrepreneurship and innovation, where small businesses are key contributors to the local economy. To support these important enterprises, various grants and funding opportunities are available for small business owners. Whether you are starting a new venture or planning to expand an existing one, these resources offer critical financial support and guidance.

Miami DDA Incentive Fund

The Miami Downtown Development Authority provides grants for businesses looking to relocate or expand within its districts. Eligible applicants include ground-floor retailers, start-ups, and mid-sized enterprises.

Flagler Recovery Grant Program

In May 2021, the City of Miami began the Downtown Flagler Street Beautification Project, which aims to transform Flagler Street into a lively, festival-style boulevard. While this project promises to enhance the area, the ongoing construction has made it challenging for small businesses, particularly those still bouncing back from COVID-19. To help, the Miami DDA launched the Flagler Recovery Grant Program, designed to provide extra support to businesses within the construction zone.

Property Improvement Grant Program

The Property Improvement Grant Program offers funding to help small businesses make exterior upgrades that boost curb appeal and enhance the overall image of the central business district. By improving storefronts, this program aims to attract more customers, retain businesses, and drive economic growth in the area. Eligible businesses can receive grants covering up to 50% of the cost of approved exterior improvements, with a maximum grant amount of $50,000.

Downtown Miami’s small businesses are essential to the area’s economic growth. Through grants and funding opportunities, entrepreneurs can access the resources they need to innovate and succeed.
