The Gateway 2022 Reveals Initial Speaker Lineup

This year’s installment of The Gateway will celebrate all things web3. And, attendees will have top-tier access to more than the best art that the NFT space has to offer: We’re excited to announce the list of talented speakers set to hold panels throughout the five-day event’s runtime.

At The Gateway 2022, powered by MoonPay and presented in partnership with Mana Common, programming will be led by some of the NFT community’s most beloved figures from a broad range of sectors. Whether you come to deepen your knowledge on curating and collecting NFTs, engage in the space as a creator, or learn from community experience how to build massive international ventures, there’s something for everyone at The Gateway 2022.

This initial crop of speakers includes notable community leaders like Gary Vaynerchuk, TIMEPiece’s Keith A. Grossman, and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, NFT collectors and builders like Gmoney, Farokh, and RTFKT’s Zaptio and ClegFX, and creators like Julie Pacino, Latashà, and Sasha Stiles.

Of course, The Gateway 2022’s leadership will also be taking the stage at panels throughout the event. Joining the list of esteemed speakers are MoonPay’s CEO Ivan Soto-Wright and nft now’s co-founders Matt Medved, Alejandro Navia, and Sam Hysell.

From Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, The Gateway: A Web3 Metropolis will take over two city blocks and 12 buildings across Downtown Miami’s Flagler District. Hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST daily. Festival programming is set to include panels, fireside chats, digital and IRL galleries, announcements, auctions, and more.

50+ Artists Announced for The Gateway 2022

Later this month, we’re taking over two Miami city blocks to launch this year’s edition of The Gateway — a five-day festival during Art Basel 2022 featuring some of the NFT community’s finest artists, creators, and leaders in a celebration of the Web3 space.

So who are they, exactly? We’re pleased to announce the first wave of artists to expect at The Gateway 2022, presented with Mana Common and powered by MoonPay. Largely consisting of honorees from The NFT 100 and previous guests of our podcast, The Gateway 2022 is taking things to the next level, with renowned artists from every corner of the NFT space.

Repping the growing generative NFT art community are IX Shells, who also holds the honor of being the highest-selling female artist in the scene, Tyler Hobbs, Zancan, and many more. Fans of photo NFTs will also have plenty to be excited about, as J.N. Silva, Dave Krugman, Cath Simard, and Swopes will also make an appearance. Beeple — largely known for producing some of the most expensive NFTs ever sold — has also committed to exhibiting work at this year’s Gateway.

Additionally, attendees can also expect to see some of the NFT community’s most venerated leaders make an appearance. Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova, along with representatives from the vaunted Unicorn DAO, has also joined the growing ranks of names with high notoriety at this year’s Gateway. The festival may even prove to be an impromptu gathering of the Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult with a scheduled exhibition from co-creator Elf J Trul.

The Gateway will feature a wide range of immersive installations, ranging from web3 powerhouses like 9dcc by gmoney, Adam Bomb Squad, Art Blocks, FaZe Clan, MetaMask, MoonPay, and RTFKT, to longer-tenured players like Christie’s, Instagram, Porsche, and WME, alongside leading artists, musicians, speakers, and communities. Partners include Johnnie Walker Blue, Fenwick, Perrier, and Rug Radio.

Situated on the 8th floor of the Mana Common headquarters is a bright-white, open floor with undeniable, untapped potential. After much thought on the best use for the space, the 4,145 square foot floor was transformed into a multi-purpose venue for Mana Common affiliated events. Aptly named Ocho Blanco— a Spanish play-on-words for “Eight White”— the location features tall exposed ceilings, natural light glistening throughout, concrete polished flooring and stunning views overlooking Downtown Miami.

As part of Mana Common’s mission to create a resurgence of life in Downtown, there is no better place to bring the community together than within one of our very own properties. Ocho Blanco serves to create the dynamic environment we envision for successful, thought-provoking events in the Flagler District. Mana Tech Kicks off Miami Art Week with Successful First Edition of NFT BZL

This past Tuesday, Miami welcomed its first ever NFT conference. Mana Tech hosted the inaugural ‘NFT BZL’ at FTX Arena, kicking off this year’s Art Basel. The event consisted of panels that covered topics involving NFTs and Web3. The conference featured over 75 speakers from different industries, more than 16 NFT projects exhibited and approximately 4000 attendees.

The day-long event featured a jam-packed schedule of 13 thought-provoking panels that covered a wide-range of topics related to the NFT space such as art, fashion, gaming and music. For instance, the “Consumer Brands in the NFT Space” explored concepts of collectibles, tokens, digitizing intellectual property and how corporations are scrambling to stay ahead of the curve during this innovative time.

The event’s mission was to educate, connect and inspire everyone in the Web3 space. From beginners, to those who have been learning for years now, this conference welcomed everyone despite their background, age, or experience. Mana Tech invited William Quigley as one of the main speakers, among many others, who walked the audience through the world of NFTs from the very beginning of where they came from to what is expected of them in the future.

During this educational conference, attendees had a chance to experience a great variety of activations such as VR experiences, live art, live music, a diamond exhibit, a digital gallery and finally, a space for demo tables and networking. One of the most exciting and popular activities was from AEXLAB, who gave attendees the opportunity to try their latest VR experience.

Mana Common Reveals Designs for First Development, ‘Nikola Tesla Innovation Hub’ in Flagler District

Moishe Mana’s Mana Common unveils designs by renowned architecture and design studio ZYSCOVICH for a striking facade of irregular glass panels to form a unique fixture within the Downtown Miami skyline. The Nikola Tesla Innovation Hub is a collaboration between Mana Common’s Mana Tech and Mana Properties divisions and marks a cornerstone of Mana’s aspirations to develop the Flagler District into a global technology center and the economic engine of the region. The designers’ intention was to give prospective tenants an inspiring view of the Flagler District as it develops.

As the first new building to be realized in the (visionary) Flagler District, it had to be iconic. To achieve that while still respecting the smaller canvas and scale of the building, which we intentionally maintained within the fabric of Downtown, we looked for ways to open the building up to the neighborhood and welcome it in. The design also had to speak to the future of Downtown Miami and the technology, culture and commerce center it’s primed to be. The existing exterior skin will be stripped away and replaced with an artistic facade of reflective glass and shaded glass, offering the opportunity to see in and reflect out in the same facade.

Originally built in 1980, the 13-story building formerly housed federal law enforcement offices, including the Miami divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), US Customs and the Federal Immigration offices. The complete gut renovation of the building is being led by Telesco, with completion and delivery of 137,000 square feet of new leasable office space and 6,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space on S. Miami Avenue. The adjacent garage at 26 SE First Street, will also undergo renovation to deliver 324 spaces to serve the building.

The Nikola Tesla Innovation Hub marks Mana Common’s first project within the ambitious development of the Flagler District in Downtown Miami. Moishe Mana is Miami’s largest private landowner and a major player in Downtown’s revitalization, with over 60 properties in the area, and another four under construction. Interior demolition at 155 S. Miami Ave. began late 2020 to prepare for a complete renovation of the building by 2022.

Nikola Tesla was an under-appreciated genius in his lifetime. Just like Henry Flagler, Tesla lived within the Gilded Age-- a period of ingenuity and technological innovation, but also brutal competition. Mana Public Arts and Urban Impact Lab announce the Flagler Street Art Festival to take place during the week of Art Basel 2021. The event is ushering in a new era for Downtown’s Flagler District – now undergoing a $27 million transformation – with a celebration featuring new world-class murals, digital art installations and outdoor lounge spaces.

The celebration begins Nov. 30 and continues through Dec. 5, centered on the 100 block of Flagler Street.

For this edition of Art Week, we’re putting the focus back on the Flagler District. From nightlife events and art activations, to tech workshops and informative talks, this festival brings in the best creative minds. We’re activating the area with events that create a lasting impact in the neighborhood and reinforce our mission of revitalization.

ROI Miami Welcomes Business Pitches in Shark Tank Style Event

The Miami tech scene is most certainly alive and well. This past weekend, Le Rouge in Wynwood hosted a “Shark Tank” styled business pitch event, ‘ROI Miami’. The event featured pitches from 3 startups: Letterhead, Padl and Visuwall.

The proceedings were introduced by Miami Mayor, Francis J. Suarez. The mayor has been a leading pioneer for the burgeoning Miami tech scene over the past year. His enthusiasm can be traced back to a viral twitter moment, where the mayor responded to Venture Capitalist, Delian Asparouhov’s ambitious idea to move Silicon Valley to Miami:

The tweet garnered immense traction across the tech community, and the momentum hasn’t slowed down one bit. The mayor’s remarks at ROI Miami mentioned a fundamental truth: tech is here to stay. Cities have two distinct options: to either run from change or to embrace it head on. Miami is prepared to do the latter, and has been for quite a while now.

Each startup delivered a 5 minute pitch, followed by a series of questions/comments from the investors. Investors included Moishe Mana, Krishan Aurora, Jeff Ransdell, Monique Idlett-Mosley, Joe Dagrosa, Alexandra Wilkis Wilson and Tanya Sam.

ROI typically represents a return asked solely by investors such as those listed above, however what made ROI Miami unique is that ROI was also contributed by the audience. Following the presentations, the community was able to engage with the presenting startups and have productive networking discussions.

Additionally, Alec Monopoly DJ’ed the after party which served as the soundtrack to these face to face conversations.
